For several decades, we have worked to strengthen democracy around the world. We have trained young people so their voices can be heard in politics, and we have built networks for women in politics.
Today, KIC works to strengthen democratic structures and increase people’s trust in democracy. Our focus is on cooperation with political parties, civil society, independent media, and democracy activists – primarily in Eastern Europe, Africa, and Latin America.
Our work takes place on two levels: individual and institutional. At the individual level, this often involves training in political leadership, gender equality, or the art and right to influence. At the institutional level, it may involve developing policy documents or procedures that strengthen internal democracy and inclusion within various parties.
We always work based on three core principles: collaborations must be geographically relevant, capacity-building, and responsive to real needs.
We also take an active part in public debate and are part of a global network of democracy advocates.
Our work is based on Christian Democratic values.
